Those of you who know me, know I'm not a fan of Bruno Mars; actually, I really don't like the majority of his songs, and this is one of them. But I am so far behind on my blog that I literally hate myself right now, so as I try to fly through catch-up blogs, I don't have time to be picky on the music videos I choose to review and this one literally just came into my head. It wasn't quite a hit for Bruno Mars, but the video sure got people talking. Watch Bruno Mars play the piano and sing a song to Zendaya through the walls of the hotel asking her to take her dress off in this music video for "Versace On The Floor".
Bruno Mars, real name Peter Hernandez, is one of the biggest American male singers in the world. He's dipped into various genres but is mainly known for his R&B, funk, and pop music. His latest album faired pretty well on charts around the world, as he continues to dominate the music industry with unstoppable songs, however his latest singles from this album hasn't exactly been global hits; even though they are undeniably catchy. This is certainly one of them, with its unsubtle lyrics. Unfortunately, this is not a collaboration with Zendaya, although if it were, I reckon it would've got better chart placements since I was expecting her luscious female vocals to break up Bruno Mars' perfectly. This song was written by Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence, Christopher Brody Brown, and James Fauntleroy.
Directed by Cameron Duddy & Bruno Mars, this music video doesn't have a lot going on in it. It's a slight performance piece from Bruno Mars, but since he is stuck behind the piano most of the video, it doesn't entertain the audience all that much; therefore making Zendaya with the spotlight - oh why didn't she sing in this?
The narrative kicks off the visual as Bruno Mars steps out of an elevator and walks up to his hotel door, all the while checking out Zendaya, who's just standing at her door waiting to step inside; they share a look before retiring to their own rooms. This is where Bruno Mars plays the piano and starts to sing, clearly very loudly as Zendaya can hear it in her room next door, but instead of complaining, she enjoys the music.
That's about it to this music video, Zendaya - full name Zendaya Coleman - dances around the room, and moves in rhythm to the song. She acts sexily when the lyrics suggest, and eventually, her Versace dress falls to the floor and we presume she's the one who knocks on Bruno Mars' door.
The music video is quite relatable to the song, and it does have the same slow pace as the track. The song isn't all that entertaining unless you enjoy Bruno Mars' risque lyrics that have no subtlety to them at all. I just wish there was something more to this, it's sensual but just not enough. Plus, Zendaya so should've featured on this song, even just for this music video alone.

This was his debut single, and it impacted the charts globally. It's no wonder because it was so current at the time with his emotional vocals hitting all the right notes. This launched Bruno Mars, and he'll continue being successful. Watch Bruno Mars melt us in this extremely cute serenade of a music video for his debut single "Just The Way You Are".

He is currently blurring the lines between pop music and old-school funk music; totally making the latter extremely current, and it's totally working, just check out "24k Magic" which is a song we still haven't had enough of yet. But, it didn't start that way, he launched himself in the pop world, focusing solely on great written tracks and songs that are super cute, just like this one. This charted well globally, including hitting number one in the UK, the US, Canada, and Australia. It was written by Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, Khalil Walton, and Khari Cain.
Directed by Ethan Lander, the music video has a simple cute narrative to go with the sweet song. Although, credit to the editors of the music video, especially the animators, who totally rocked the animated tape scene. For those of you who recognise the love-interest, I sure did, she is played by actress Nathalie Kelley, who is known for various roles, namely Sybil in The Vampire Diaries, Dani Alvarez in Body of Proof, and Grace in Unreal.
The video sees Bruno Mars distracting his girl, played by Nathalie Kelley. She's sitting down listening to music on a tape player - do you remember those? We all totally had one of them! Anyhow, he takes the tape out of the player and starts messing with the tape inside, creating crazy drawings that are clearly created by the animators of the music video.
The ending sees him performing the song at a piano. It's very cute and very simple, yet totally magical at the same time. I love the quirky teasing going on between them as they each change the drawings to their likings. It's clever, it's witty, and extremely cuddly, just like the song. Maybe too simple and too sweet, though.
Whenever I think about my blog, I think of how many female artists are on my blog; so I've decided to switch it up a bit and try to feature more male artists; hence why I've chosen Bruno Mars' new music video today. This song came to my attention after Relley C did a cover version, to which she totally smashes! Regardless, Bruno Mars' original version is just as good, and the music video is technically brilliant even if it does have a simple concept. Watch Bruno Mars give an engaging performance piece whilst drawn items relating to the lyrics interact with his dancing in the music video for "That's What I Like".

Directed by Bruno Mars and Jonathan Lia, the music video is a pure performance visual with a creative but simple visual drawing effect - switching the music video up to make Bruno Mars' choreography turn into an out-of-this-world experience.
In the simple music video, we see Bruno Mars dancing his funky choreography, nailing every move as we expect. We believe he'd be an amazing artist to see live on stage. However, that is not all this music video is.
Switching the choreography up completely, are simple drawings that are superimposed on the video. The various drawn images completely relate to the lyrics and totally keeps the audience engaged as Bruno Mars' dancing is incorporated with the lyric-based images. It's a beautifully edited music video, that is enticing from start to finish. Simple but effective!
It's Monday, so it's Chart Mondays again! James Arthur is reigning supreme at number one on the UK Singles Chart with "Say You Won't Let Go", which opens the top 10 for my review. Luckily, Bruno Mars has jumped to number nine so I have a music video to review. Bruno Mars acts full of confidence, strutting around with his dancers in "24K Magic" music video. Classy, fun and slightly arrogant, what happened to Bruno Mars?
Bruno Mars, real name Peter Hernandez, is definitely one of the biggest male artists around at the moment. His lengthy career has really proven that he is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. He has so many hit songs behind his name, he literally has earned his spot internationally. This song is pronounced twenty-four karat magic. The song is retro, definitely bringing the incredible disco of the 80's and turning it into a 21st century song. No one can do such a thing apart from Bruno Mars, and he definitely pulls it off in the song. Perhaps not the video though. The song was written by Bruno Mars, Christopher Brody Brown and Philip Lawrence.
Directed by Bruno Mars and Cameron Duddy, it was filmed in Las Vegas at The Bellagio Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. Scenes includes a Bruno Mars party as well as him riding in a black Cadillac Allanté. Whilst Bruno Mars rides on a jet ski, Britney Spears' billboard advertisement for her Las Vegas show can be seen in the background.
The entire thing is over-the-top, this is not the way we picture Bruno Mars. It's a total step in the wrong direction from "Uptown Funk", it's like an extremely arrogant sequel to that music video.
The dancing is definitely disco 80's. But, unlike the song, there is no 21st century spin on the choreography, instead it looks out of place, as if we have gone back in time. However, it is in time to to the music and everyone is in-sync.
The party is definitely hitting it off, but Bruno Mars just doesn't look like he belongs. Personally, I think it's what he is wearing, especially when everyone else fits in. He stands out like a sore thumb, definitely not in a good way. He seems extremely cocky and the video just doesn't work.
Overall, the video is relatable, it's just not something we expect from Bruno Mars. The song is upbeat with party vibes, but the choreography doesn't work and Bruno Mars just looks too arrogant for the video.
This took me ages and ages to find. By the looks of things, this is the only single being released this week. I do not believe this, and there probably is more, but I've just spent a whole hour trying to find a song that was released this week and which has a music video. Shame Charlotte Church hasn't released a video for "Glitterbombed", would've reviewed that otherwise.
Gold1 is an artist I have never heard of. His real name is Dwaine and he used to release by that name. Now under a new name, he has released his first single. It features Bruno Mars, real name Peter Hernández, he's career is big, and it's only going to turn into a complete giant soon, if not already. He is what will make this song get the sales it gets. Jaeson Ma is a Chinese actor and musician, he has featured on a few singles, this is just another to add to the collection. I hope that we see more of Gold1 and Jaeson Ma, it will be interesting what the future brings.
The song is catchy, and it's one of those songs that makes me indecisive and unsure of whether I should buy it or not. The vocals of Bruno Mars is amazing, and definitely stands out. The song isn't on the iTunes top 1000 yet, and I doubt it will ever reach it due to no promotion and that hardly anyone knows of the song. I hope that in reviewing it, it may help.
The music video is surprisingly good. I was expecting some hip-hop/rap average music video, but it completely shocked me, and it's different to what I expected, and I wanted to watch it again and again because it's soft and gentle, which sides perfectly with the song.
There are various people holding up signs about what love is. I think this is very clever, as people's perceptions of love is not the same as others. It reminds me of The All-American Rejects' "Dirty Little Secret", because they too are holding up signs.
I like the short narrative that is involved, and I like how they magnify that with scenes of Gold1 performing on a road. It's subtle but it works and it just makes this video all the more better. What grabs my attention the most is the words as the whisp in the air. However they annoy me too as they don't link up with the words the singers are singing, although they are the lyrics of the song.
Overall, an okay song that will get stuck in my head soon. It's accompanying music video is great to watch, and it will be one I'll be watching again and again. I am prepared to overlook the whispy lyrics that don't match with the lyrics being sung at that moment in time. And so I have no choice but to give the video this rating. Look out for Gold1 and Jaeson Ma, they'll be well-known soon, just like Bruno Mars already is.
So as you all may already know, I am not into rap music at all, I can appreciate the music, but it's just not for me. So I leave rap music to my brother, CamCam, who my randomiser decided to pick today. So CamCam chose this music video, and I've been worried about doing it since it's not my sort of music, but here goes.
Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter, Jr., has been around since 1992, he has had many hit singles all over the world, and have recently been quiet here in the UK, but now he is back, and is pretty strong about it too. This song comes with a collaboration with Bruno Mars, real name Peter Hernandez, who is very hot right now, which is probably why this became a hit single. Bruno Mars has a very successful career ahead of him, and I don't see him disappearing anytime soon.
"Mirror" was written by Dwane Carter, Jr., Peter Hernandez, Phillip Lawrence and Ramon Owen. This got to number 17 on the UK chart and it is his biggest selling single in the UK to date (was that due to the help of Bruno Mars?). Lil Wayne gets a bit personal with his rapping, he raps about his father: "Lookin' at me now I can see my past. Damn, I look just like my fuckin' dad." and also raps about Michael Jackson: "And no message could have been any clearer, so I'm starting with the man in the mirror," "MJ taught me that.".
The music video is surprisingly good, and pretty different to other rap music videos available. Lil Wayne is obviously painting something from the very beginning and you kind of wonder what this masterpiece will be. Surely it can't amass to anything. Bruno Mars' involvement is very little, he's just standing around as if he was admiring the finished painting.
I like how Lil Wayne is just throwing paint here there and everywhere, I really doubt he actually made that painting at the end, it just doesn't seem possible, but for all I know, he might have created it. The painting is of Lil Wayne on a crucifix with a microphone in his hand, behind him is a face and clouds and lightning coloured in red. It's quite a surprising and revealing painting, but definitely one that took quite a lot of time to make (but did Lil Wayne really do it, or was an artist brought in?)
Overall a great music video, and although this isn't the sort of song I listen to, I can see how personal it is to Lil Wayne. There's not a lot I can say about the video, but it is very interesting, although not a lot is going on. Does it link in with the song? To a verifying degree, yes, and so it is worthy of this rating.
